Two star players met in Germany during the prime of their careers, only to find themselves quickly out of basketball just a few months later due to one huge mistake. An observation of the lives of a married American couple, Kasey and Maine native Bracey Ulin, Extending the Play is as much about opportunity and the dedication to your calling as it is about basketball. The couple met in 2007, coming from opposite coasts to form an instant attraction and a bond over their preferred sport. As time afforded them the opportunity and they adjusted from a life of playing professionally in Europe to an average, private one in rural America, they received a phone call from the small country of Luxembourg that changed everything. Currently Kasey seems to be getting better with age. He is the leader of his team and a mentor to the younger players. But at 31, he knows the end of his career could be approaching quicker than he’d like. Bracey Ulin, formerly Barker, was the second player in Mount Desert Island history and third Hancock County player to earn a scholarship to the Division I program. The film features footage of her high school career in Bar Harbor, her college tenure as a star Maine Black Bear, and interviews with her father, MDI coach Burt Barker.
